GO AWAY FAY!!

After 4 days of pounding rain and 50 mph winds, we were all ready for Tropical Storm Fay to go away! The girls had just started school when they closed school for two days after the storm stalled over central Florida. We fortunately had no damage done to our neighborhood or ever lost power but the poor souls on the Atlantic coast got hammered with so much rain (over 25 inches in 48 hrs!!) Stan had been out of town in Michigan for a managers meeting so he missed all the fun! :)

BACK TO SCHOOL

Last Monday, the 18th, was the girls first day back at school. I think we were all happy to get back on a schedule and they were glad to see their friends. I went to meet Maddie's new middle school teachers the week before and was so impressed with everyone. Both schools are state of the art schools that are only a few years old. Maddie's 6th grade class alone has over 460 students -the school is huge! Fortunately, all her classes are closeby except for Band. She loves riding the bus with her neighborhood friends.
Callie's teacher looped with her class so we knew what to expect for 2nd grade. She was so happy to have all her old friends plus a few new ones from last year.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY STAN

We celebrated Stan's 40 something birthday last week with a dinner at Longhorns and ice cream cake. The girls decorated the house with balloons and a homemade birthday banner. As the card my Mom sent Stan said, don't count your years, make your years count. (or was it "beers"?) Either way, that's pretty good advice!

FATAL ACCIDENT IN OUR LAKE

Last Wednesday am around 4am, we hear a loud splash from our backyard lake. We look outside to see taillights going under the water! After calling 911, we see helicopters and rescue vehicles arrive. It was only after sunrise and dive recovery teams came did we realize that the young man driving the car drown. Appatently, he was driving too fast and ignored the stop sign at the T-intersection that runs ddirectly to the lake. It was terrible thinking about the poor family of this 24 year old as they pulled him from the lake. We all said a prayer for the family. Life can change in an instant.

LITTLE MYA ROO

Our new puppy, Mya, is a trip! She must have some kangaroo in her because she jumps vertically and pounces on everything and everyone. She and Oscar are getting along great and its nice to see both of them running and playing. Oscar definetely gets his exercise now. Used to be that Oscar wouldn't leave her alone, its completely opposite now that she is bigger. He has to hide from her to get any rest!

NEW BRICK PATIO

We recently had a brick paver patio completed in our back yard. We love being able to sit outside and enjoy the great sunshine. The kids and their friends have all now found a shady spot to hang out and eat popscicles. Having our own little oasis by the lake while we grill out is awesome! You can't tell by the pics, but it is scalloped around the outside-we wanted it to look like a seashell.
